With the prevalence of social media, websites like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter have become a large part of annual holidays. Holidays mean your social feed blowing up with an overwhelming amount of repeat holiday themed content like 50 Facebook uploads of a decorated Christmas tree, a dozen pumpkin Instagrams, or a never-ending Twitter feed of “Happy New Year!” wishes.
Happy 4th of July, it’s time to mentally prepare ourselves for the social media takeover. So sit back, enjoy your day off, and get ready to watch as everyone tries to be the most patriotic person on social. We’ve decided to take a look at Instagram, here are some predictions for today:

1. American Flag

If you don’t have at least one American flag Insta, you’re pretty much not American. The American flags you pass by everyday without a second glance are suddenly captivating and you absolutely must take a picture to prove your patriotism.

2. Beer

The only thing more patriotic than the flag itself is probably an American flag beer can. After all, what’s more American than a nice cold one? In fact, Independence Day weekend is the number one weekend for beer sales. So, even if you’re not a big beer drinker, you’re bound to knock back a few and post a carefully filtered photo of it.

3. Cook-out

What better place to drink beer and be patriotic other than a good ol’ fashion cook-out with the friends and family. About 160 million people (about 70% of the population) plan on celebrating 4th of July at a cook-out. Your Instagram feed is going to be blowing up with grilling selfies and close up artsy shots of hot dogs, hamburgers, kabobs, watermelon, potato salad, etc. Better join in and get that perfect patriotic picture of your cheeseburger.

4. Sparklers

Sparklers can be tricky enough on their own but people are taking it to the next level when they multitask and try to take artsy pictures of them. I wonder how many burnt fingers there will be the end of the holiday… Regardless, you’re bound to see a good amount of close up sparkler shots as the night progresses. If you’re lucky, you might even get a few people who wave it around and attempt to do some burly sparkler art.

5. Fireworks

Last but not least, the obnoxious amount of firework pictures. It’s as if this is the first time anyone has ever seen a fireworks show and they need to take a picture of every last firework. You will see at least 15 fireworks Instagrams guaranteed, maybe even some videos!

4th of July is a special day for every American. It’s time to post and scroll down your patriotic social media feeds, but it’s also a great time to make memories with family and friends so enjoy your day off! Happy Independence Day!
